GFT Counter-Strike tournament rules
The rules that are presented below must be followed by all players and teams. All violations will be punished with a punishment fit to the violation. The types of punishment that we can use are:
- Round deduction
- Warning
- Auto loss
- Disqualification
If you’re having a hard time understanding any of the following rules contact one of the admins. Teams or players that deliberately exploits an incorrect written or a insufficient rule will be considered as a rule violation. Admins words goes first, always.
At least one admin will be present behind every team during gameplay. This is to make it easier for all players if any problems will arise but also to make sure that everything is correct. Don't hesitate to contact one of the admins if you need to ask something.

Players and communication
The games will be played 5on5 (five players versus five players). If a team can’t find a fifth player, the game will be started with four players or less. The stand in can not be a part of another team in the tournament. (The 2on2 tournament is of course played with 2 players in each team).
Ventrilo will be installed on the computers, so we don't demand you to use in game voice. You don’t have to use any of the programs, but you can use either of them if you want to.
It isn't allowed to talk when you are dead. If you get shot then you can talk until your screen turns to black. (All games are played with fade to black). A started sentence is allowed to be finished.
Teams are allowed to use a coach throughout the tournament (assumed that the team has notified admins about this and that the person got a valid ticket). Once the round has begun, the coach may not communicate in any manner with the competitors until the round is over or all teammates have been eliminated.
Player exchange may only be done during half time. It aint allowed to pause the game to switch players.
Before game:
The time schedule during GFT will be very tight since there is only 10 computers to play on, therefore it’s very important for all teams to follow the listed times. The teams must be present at Telias exhibition stand at least 10 minutes before game time. If one of the teams for some reason aren’t ready to play 15 minutes after the listed game time (15 minutes after the teams gets their computers) the other team will get a forfeit win.
Before the game an admin will perform a coin flip to decide which team will get to pick computers. This is done with one player from each team.
Half time:
After the first 15 rounds there will be a half time pause of maximum 5 minutes. We recommended you to start the game again as quickly as possible to avoid any delay.
After the game:
After the match has ended, both teams have the responsibility to report the result.
Only during the final
Both final teams will choose one map each from the map cycle to play in the final. The map that are choosen by the team from loser brack will be played first. The team from loser bracket has to win two maps to be able to win the tournament, while the team from winner bracket just have to win one map.
Rules during the match
A maximum of 15 rounds will be played. The match ends when one of the teams has reached 16 rounds. If one team leaves the server before the other team reaches 16 rounds, the remaining team will receive the remaining rounds.
Boosting: Player boosting can be done by a unlimited number of players. You get to boost on every part of the map that can be reached without using a bug. One example of illegal use of bugs is called mapswimming. Basically, it’s when one boosts up to the edge of the de_dust2 and looks over the wall in order to see the long. One is also not allowed to boost through the roof in the yellow house on de_nuke. However, boosting to the top of the highest mountain in de_nuke is fine.
Teams that takes advantage of illegal bugs will be punished, either through deduction of rounds or with disqualification.
Some common bugs:
Using grenades (he, flash, smoke) in order to use a bug is not acceptable. Using a flashbang in a sky box so that the flashbug surfaces is not allowed. This happens when one flashes under crates, through walls or other gaps. One example one a flashbug is when throwing a flashbang under the crate in the ramp on de_nnuke so that other players on other parts of the map that should not be flashed, still are. Grenades can however be thrown over walls and roofs where it is possible without using a bug.
Silentplant. Planting of the bomb has to meet certain qualifications. An planting where a CT can't hear the bomb, a so called silentplant, gives a reduction of two rounds. The bomb should also be adapted in such a way the a only one CT is needed in order to disarm the bomb, which means no highplants are allowed. A highplant will also result in two points deduction.
Mapswimming. For example, using the bug at the highest edge on B1 at de_dust2 in order to see the long.
Skybox bug. For example, checking under walls between the CT-hill and the alley on de_train/crate in de_nuke.
Breaking the bug rules will lead to consequences. Using either a slentplant, skybox bug or grenade bug two rounds of deduction will be drawn from the cheating time, while the opposing team will recieve the two extra rounds. Using mapswimming will results in giving the opponents the remaining rounds that remain of the match half to their advantage.
All bugs are not mentioned but the rules will concern all of them. If you’re not sure if any specific action is allowed consult with one of the admins.
The shield is not allowed to be used. If one buys the shield by mistake, it must be dropped immediately after spawning.
Extension of a game
If the match ends in a draw both teams set their startmoney to 10 000 and play a maximum of three rounds to settle the match.
Player drop and pause rules
If a player gets disconnected from the server your team has to notify your opponents and admin direct and pause the game at the end of the round or during freezetime. It is only allowed to pause in the end of the round or during freezetime, not during the round. Pausing during a round will be punished with two rounds deduction.
The team affected with the player drop will pause. The same person who paused the game will start when the problem is solved.
Game pause should only be used during technical problem. Abuse of this rule will be punished with two rounds of deduction. Every team has a max 10 minutes pause time each game. If the time is exceeded, the game will be continued with the number of players available on the server.
If 4 or more players drops at the simultaneously then it is counted as a server crash. See rules for server crash.
Server crash
If the server crashes or goes down before the fourth round in the game then the game will be restarted.
If the server crashes after the fourth round started then the game will be restarted and the number of rounds the both teams had before the crash will be counted. The mp_startmoney command will be used and set to 4500, despite the teams’ economic situation before the crash.
Breaking the rules and conflitcs:
All the rules must be followed which is why punishment will be used when breaking them. Warnings, deduction of rounds and disqualification are the different tools we will use.
To consciously create conflicts without actual ground to support ones claims is not allowed. To look for wrongs in order to win the match will also lead to punishment. Conflicts are only for the important things that can have affect on the result of the match. Bug flashes and such should be taken with the opposing team. If the team using the bug realises that they have done wrong, two points of deduction will be taken. If not, admin should be contacted.
When a decision has been made regarding a conflict, it stands. Under no circumstances can the decision be appealed against.
All types of trying for appealing will lead to even stronger punishments, both for the player and the team. What one do and say represents the clan one plays for and shall be treated thereafter.
A clan that has confirmed a lost after a finished game can't afterwards come and complain. We'd rather you wait to confirm the lost until the issue has been dealt with.
We demand of all players that the best of sportsmanship is to be shown. Failing to show this will lead to punishment.
To consciously use a wrongly written or lacking rule will in itself be seen as breaking the rules. Saying "but this wasn't mentioned!" won't cut it and the teams will be punished with an action suiting the wrongdoing.
But most importantly, don't forget to have fun when playing!
